Question: What does it mean to create a profile?
Answer: Creating a profile is a more efficient way of gathering simple profile information that we routinely gather at our events. The profile helps US know who you are, how you heard about us, and whether you would like to receive email notification of our events. It also enables us to contact you if, for example, there is a change in a program or space opens up for wait-listed individuals. The profile enables YOU to register in advance and check your status in the class (e.g., whether we have received your payment). You can change your answers to the profile entries at any time.
After the last event with Dr. Judith Orloff (in which we crammed over 500 people into an auditorium for 238 and the fire marshal escorted out half the audience midway through the program), an online system was created to enable people to secure their spot in advance and to handle the volume of data generated from surveys.
One of the hallmarks of our program is affordability. We seek venues that don't charge for parking, so that the cost of our events is less than or comparable to the cost of attending a free event at UCLA, where one pays a parking fee of $8. Advance payment ensures that seats are being held for those who genuinely plan to attend.
By reducing registration management time, this "virtual administrator" also increases time available for planning new programs.
